Gather a minimal, modular desk organizer to help you cut through the clutter. It’s completely customizable and adapts to however you want to use it. The grid system allows each of the pieces to be rotated or positioned anywhere along the base and the magnets allow you to attach additional pieces.

I feel like a little kid on on Christmas Eve itching to open that Lego set that I’ve been asking for since last year. Maybe Legos at Christmas weren’t your thing, but I’m guessing you’re just as eager to open up your Gather and cut through your clutter.

We continue to learn how much it takes to get a product manufactured and imported from overseas. Some of our recent learnings include:
There is a difference between “clearing the port” and “clearing customs.”
Importing wooden goods can slow things down at customs.
Chinese New Year is like Black Friday for importing, so everything moves a little slower because of the volume of containers that get sent just before the holiday.
Who knew?! Thankfully, we have a great manufacturing partner who has experience with navigating these things and has kept things moving along as quickly as possible.

Gather is currently on US soil and in transit to our fulfillment partner. As soon as we get official word that the shipment has arrived, we’ll be flying down to see everything in person and posting some photos and video in our next update. And if all goes well, that will be the final update before Gather is headed your way!
The first production Gather sets have arrived!

Just wanted to send a quick update to show you some photos of the FINAL Gather Sets that I just received.
Yes, these are the first ever 100% complete Gathers! I’m so pumped with how they turned out! It’s amazing and rewarding to look back at the progression from the original crude prototypes to the polished finished product.
The entire shipment of Gathers are making their way to us across the Pacific Ocean in two giant containers. They are scheduled to arrive in March, and then we’ll be shipping them to you from our fulfillment partner in Austin, TX.
We are so excited to get Gather in your hands soon! I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking :-)

Gather production is 100% complete!
We are excited to share that our first production run is officially complete! That means that Gather is now on its way to our shipping partner and then to your doorstep. 🙌
(Unfortunately that’s not the whole update...)

Shipping takes time
One part of crowdfunding something of this scale is that you get to come along on the ride with us, so we want to continue to be as transparent as possible.
I didn't want to be "that Kickstarter project" that delivers late. I’ve been in your shoes before. I’ve backed multiple Kickstarter projects only to get emails about delays. It sucks.
But with all the variables, getting something right AND on time is incredibly hard.
Thanks for the overwhelming positive response and encouragement as we work through these delays.
As we explained in our previous update, our manufacturer had to completely remake all of the wood bases due to a 0.1mm error. They literally worked around the clock to remake them from scratch. Unfortunately, this ate up the time that we had allotted for transporting the product to our shipping partner.
We started exploring options to try to make up some of this time. We knew air shipping would cost us more, but if we could get the product in your hands sooner we were willing to accept some extra expense.
The initial air shipping estimates we received were promising, so we started making plans accordingly. But when the actual cost came back it was nearly 5X the original estimated cost which made it completely unfeasible.
We had to go back to our original plan and ship Gather on a container ship. This journey takes about 1.5 months and pushes us into March before we can start getting Gather into your hands.

To summarize: Gather manufacturing is 100% completed. Once it arrives in March, we’re ready to start sending Gather your way.

It's the little things

It’s amazing how important a 10th of a millimeter can be!
We know that you are all waiting patiently to receive your Gather®, and another update that doesn’t say “SHIPPED” is disappointing to say the least.
Lest you think this is just another Kickstarter that is going to fail on follow-through, I want to be completely transparent about where things stand.
As of our last update, I thought we had things wrapping up and all that was left was shipping logistics, but during a final round of quality testing we found that the slots in the wooden bases were too narrow which made the modular pieces difficult to seat and unseat. This meant that we needed to remake ALL of the bases adjusting the slot width by literally 0.1mm.
Our manufacturing partner installed a new high speed CNC router and are working around the clock to get us the initial shipment to fulfill all of your pre-orders.

Shipping
We are still hoping to have the product in hand and shipped to you this month or early February, but we’re still waiting for a final delivery date.

Some of you were wondering about the rubber feet that we mentioned in our previous update. YES! They will be included with every set.

It's official!
On the more exciting front, we acquired the registered trademark for Gather® and we’re working hard to get the website ready for our mainstream product launch.

Getting it right

Hope you are having a great holiday season. It’s December and I know you are probably getting antsy to get your hands on Gather. I know I am. Unfortunately we hit a production snag and we will all have to wait just a little longer.
I just spoke with our manufacturer and production is 90% complete. We missed the target completion date because the first batch of Extension Kit bases weren’t quite right and had to be remade.
This means production is now scheduled to be completed by the end of December and then shipped to us in January. Our hope is that we can ship out your rewards towards the end of January or early February 2018.
I realize that this is not the news you probably wanted to hear, and please forgive us if this complicates your Christmas gifting plans.
I hope you’ll understand that manufacturing the first run of a new product can be complicated, and we want to make sure we ship the high-quality Gather that we and you have been anticipating.
Thank you for your patience and for helping us pull Gather across the finish line. We are getting so close!

Manufacturing Progress
I received some photos from our manufacturer so you can see the progress of thousands of Gathers being made. There’s a ton of steps involved in manufacturing and assembling each set and it’s really cool to see it all take shape.

Final Packaging Samples
I also received the final packaging samples and I’m really pleased with how they turned out. If you plan on giving Gather as a gift or just need somewhere to store it, these boxes will be something you’ll want to hold onto.
